Spike Posted February 7, 2016 Share #76 Posted February 7, 2016 A rifleman coat that was worn by a platoon commander with one of the 3 platoons that operated out of Solid Anchor mid-70. I have pics of the Lt. wearing this coat on an op but due to privacy concerns I can't post them.

63 RECON Posted June 15, 2016 Share #79 Posted June 15, 2016 That would be an interesting topic. While i found them to be less than comfortable (in my humble thoughts obviously), i was told by more than one person the actually the design was quite practical and appealing to soldiers that the vests were used even later than vietnam war. I've never been able to confirm these words, Anyway, to support this i have a 90's one made from a woodland bdu (not a taiwan knockoff: a jacket shortened, lined with cordura, cordura pouches attached in a similar layout, with a navy modified oral/co2 inflatable bladder inside) as well as this photo taken in 1992 of SDV team 1, with the rightmost guy that looks like he's wearing a rifleman jacket. Whilst this is during VN, here is a pic of an SASR member wearing a float coat. kammo-man Posted May 6, 2020 Share #83 Posted May 6, 2020 Here’s the vest that was fielded I bought 10 yards here on the forum several years ago and when it came it was sadly cut up into sections. As I collect printed Vietnam cloth as is I thought of what to do with it.I kept a 3 yard section and sent some to a friend.I also sent to Jim in Hong Kong at East Asia and he made me 2 vests as I had pretty much given up on finding a real one, as rare as hens teeth as they say Anyway here is what he came up withIt’s not bad and he just missed the Velcro on the arms as he used elastic I will use them for rose bowl wearing etc or Militaria show display etc Original 2nd strike erdl unissued cloth made into SEAL camouflage combat floating vest.A good fun item Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
