Corpl. Cleaver Posted August 14, 2010 Share #1 Posted August 14, 2010 Okay guys I got this today at a fleamarket. Is there anyway to remove the ugly green paint from this box?? The box is made out of the same stuff as old footlockers, not quite sure what to call it. If theres no way to restore it then it's not a big loss. The lady wanted $20 for it... came back over an hour later and she said she'd take $6. She insisted that it haden't been repainted, LOL. Thanks, tyler
Jeeper704 Posted August 15, 2010 Share #2 Posted August 15, 2010 Is there a way to see if the original paint is still underneath this layer? I'd use Goof-Off (or whatever it's called) in that case. Erwin
PvtTamura Posted August 15, 2010 Share #3 Posted August 15, 2010 Looks like the original paint to me
UPNATM Posted August 15, 2010 Share #4 Posted August 15, 2010 Looks like the inside is original. But the groovy repaint on the outside is not. I would try a little goof off on a rag on the underside first, just to make sure it does not strip down past the original o.d. More than likly with just good ol' rubbin you will be able to get that top layer off.
tsakers85 Posted August 15, 2010 Share #5 Posted August 15, 2010 I recently saw a really nice field desk at an antique store that somebody had painted a really awful color of blue. It's a shame that people do that...
Corpl. Cleaver Posted August 15, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted August 15, 2010 UPNATM, I'll give that a try and post the results either today or tomorrow. Tyler
