uscollector Posted August 14, 2010 Share #1 Posted August 14, 2010 I am interested in learning about evaluating wings as to their authenticity and age. I have read much of the excellent information available on this forum. One of the major things to evaluate of course is whether a wing is original manufacture or a copy. I am interested in opinions about the wing offered in the auction below as to whether it might possibly be from a casting. My reasons for questioning this are that there appears to be an unusual blob to the left of the bullet on the front and there are also porous areas on the front and back. This is a question for learning only and is not meant to be a reflection on the person offering the wing for auction. Any opinions would be appreciated. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT Link to comment

Jack's Son Posted August 15, 2010 Share #3 Posted August 15, 2010 While I am NOT an expert on wings, Paul certainly is. I agree with him because of the tell tale pores "pot marks" left by the sand-cast mold. Link to comment
