theguiltyone Posted November 7, 2010 Share #51 Posted November 7, 2010 Operation Daybreak, WW II with Timothy Bottoms. Excellent last stand scene in the church, true story too. marc
Ponycar07 Posted November 7, 2010 Share #52 Posted November 7, 2010 The Siege of Firebase Gloria "The people were friendly. We liked them and they liked us... so it really hurt us to see their heads on stakes." This line, dryly spouted by R. Lee Ermey's character Sergeant Major Bill Hafner of the United States Marine Corps' Force Recon, begins a brutal portrayal of war at its worst. This film pulls no punches, showing combat for what it is: a slaughter. Steve

Capt.Confederacy Posted November 12, 2010 Share #54 Posted November 12, 2010 How about "Little Bighorn" (1951)? It revolves around a cavalry patrol trying to warn Custer's command away from the Little Bighorn. It stars Lloyd Bridges and also Sheb Wooley of "Flying Purple People Eater" fame. drummerboy Posted November 25, 2010 Share #55 Posted November 25, 2010 Doesn't get better than this for a last stand. Unless they do a film about the 34th Div at Monte Pantano or the 88th at Monte Battaglia

alexhydell Posted November 25, 2010 Share #57 Posted November 25, 2010 "Field of Honor" Sole surviving Dutch Para from an overrun base in the Korean War having interesting adventures behind the lines (once he gets out from under the truck that's parked on his foot). All the fun comes to an end when the North Koreans get pushed back, and roll over him again. If you can find the movie, it's well worth the time to watch it. Haven't seen "Cockleshell Heroes" mentioned yet.
