marr708 Posted July 29, 2010 Share #1 Posted July 29, 2010 I just received my first Kinfolks M3 trench knife. It is in wonderful shape, except the blade guard has the slightest bit of wiggle. The rest of the leather washers are in good shape and tight. Is there anyway to reduce a tiny wiggle without damaging or altering the knife. Perhaps, I should just leave it alone. Any thoughts or solutions would be appreciated. Hold the presses! As I went to retrieve the knife for a photo, I discoved the wiggle has disappeared. [Disregard my stupid question above]. Upon receiving the knife, I lubricated the blade with Rem-oil. I then treated the handle with a generous rag-full of Lexol leather preservative. The Lexol is a very watery solution and apparently swelled the leather enough to elimainate the wiggle. I suspected shrinkage of the discs, but I did not want immerse the knife in water or steam. This way I get maximum "swellage" and leather preservation to boot!
