M-1908 Enlisted Made in England EGA

nearly a year ago we had a discussion about a Model 1904/1908 enlisted dress cover emblem that was Made in England. a couple examples were shown, and a few comments were made that a service version had not been seen. Well...found it. Very nice emblem, I think may have been modeled after the Meyers version of this emblem

Indeed, it does look much better than the painted "glitter" emblem we reviewed last year. Note the opposite direction the "made in england" plates are facing. Seems to leave "little" :think: doubt now that these were someone's concoction. The brown painted surface appears original, any evidence otherwise? s/f Darrell

paint seems original. that glitter may actually have been an original finish, as this brown is more of a glossy copper, but indeed appears 100% original. the 'Made in England' plate is also cast directly with the piece, not seperately applied, and the letters seem in par with all the other marks on EGAs we've seen
