2) Fail Safe

3) Berlin Airlift

4) The Bedfort Incident

5) Ice Station Zebra

6) Strategic Air Command

Anybody know of any others??

Ha ha...this one isnt so much Cold War, but Post Cold War. It is VERY cheesy, but I really enjoyed it

THE FOURTH WAR

Post Cold War drama about two gung-ho border commanders (Roy Scheider, Jurgen Prochnow) who carry out their own private war against each other after the Cold War ends on the German - Czechoslovakia border.

There are several Cold War comedy movies not mentioned so far:

- One, Two, Three (1961)

- Gotcha! (1985)

- Top Secret! (1984)

And a couple of exceptional recent ones from Germany, in German with English subtitles:

- Goodbye Lenin! (2003)

- The Lives of Others (2006) - 2007 Academy Award for best Foreign Film

Who could forget "Spies Like Us"

One of my favorites along with Stripes. I totally overlooked the comedies.

Another couple of my favorites are "War Games" and "Cloak & Dagger", both starring Dabney Coleman who was in everything in the 80's and always good.

The ICBM launch scene at the opening of War Games was the most realistic one I've ever seen. Of course you wouldnt shoot your crew partner since they are meat on the hoof when the emergency rations under the LCC floor ran out.

The Journey w/ Yul Brynner, and other knowns, is now out on DvD. This is an excellent movie ive seen only the last half of but takes place when the Russians invade I think it was--Hungary or Bulgaria??? and Yul Brynner is excellent as the Russian officer. Also had the kid who played Opie Taylor in The Andy Griffith Show and Jason Robards Jr.

The Journey takes place in Hungary after the 1956 uprising against the Russians. Liked they had T-34 tanks but drove jeeps, but had a Russian jeep parked.
