Randy Posted July 14, 2010 Share #3 Posted July 14, 2010 There are a bunch of WW2 AAC fighter units made the same way, on felt with the cheesecloth backing. The 42, 85, 319, 321 come to mind, but I know there's others plus some Navy. There are a lot of opinions, with most siding on post war but pre Korean war manufacture. Hopefully, someone out there has a good answer backed up with facts instead of an opinion. Randy
mortaydc60 Posted July 14, 2010 Share #4 Posted July 14, 2010 The unit was deactivated Sept 1945. When it was eventually reactivated and for the Korean War it was designated as VMFA 121. According to the Jeff Millstein book the first version of the patch was Aussie made on wool and the second version was US embrodiery on wool. This should answer the question.
