US82Bravo Posted July 11, 2010 Share #1 Posted July 11, 2010 Found this photo at an antique shop. Thought the subject matter was interesting. It shows what looks like a 'Tennessee' or 'Colorado' class battleship (the distinguishing clipper bow and two slim funnels) and a what looks like a destroyer in the background and some type of native craft. There is some interesting activity going on on the deck of the outrigger.
US82Bravo Posted July 11, 2010 Author Share #2 Posted July 11, 2010 It looks like the person nearest the mast has their hands in the air and the person two people to photo right has their hands and arms in a similar position. There are at least 5 people visible on the small craft. There are no markings or information on the back of the photo to indicate where, when, or what. Wonder what's up? Enjoy. gpw_42 Posted July 11, 2010 Share #3 Posted July 11, 2010 On the outrigger, "Prepare to take a wake" would be an understatement...
Steindaddie Posted July 11, 2010 Share #4 Posted July 11, 2010 Nice photo, and quite a study in contrasts for sure. Given the battleship's configuration, it is either USS Colorado or USS Maryland, post April 1944. A few hard to decipher details point to the Maryland.
