disneydave Posted July 28, 2007 Share #1 Posted July 28, 2007 As several formations of fighter planes fly overhead, the Disney triumvarate thumb a ride to their jobs at the war factory in order to save fuel. The illustration was created by Hank Porter circa 1943 and was one of just a few that pictured Mickey Mouse, whose image was used sparingly on war related projects. Image courtesy the Porter family. The second image in this post was also created circa 1943 by Hank Porter for a homefront poster designed to get Americans to conserve gasoline by carpooling. The image is quite large and did not fit completely on my scanner bed. For those of you that own a copy of Walton Rawls Disney Dons Dogtags book, the poster on which the art appears is shown on page six. The caption on the poster reads, "Share your car. It's patriotic." I love the composition in this piece of art and the look on Donald's face is priceless.
