Allright got this helmet. Front seam swivel bail. As you can see it has character. What would be best to do with it? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks as always,

Dale

well you've got 2 options try to re-paint it or leave as is & stick a cover on it add a liner see if you can get original chin straps & you're done, its really up to you & what it is you wish the shell to become i.e. which era it could have been used in ????

I'm with Nick on the second option. I've repainted a lot of helmets but now I wish I hadn't. Someday there are going to be no original helmets left...just the kinds reenactors use. Slap a cover on it and "call it a day." -Grant

so what do you think caused the wear on the back top. Using it over a fire, just plain old rust? Do I need to worry about trying to stop the rust. I really like the character of this helmet.
