My first (and favorite) uniform in my collection. Mint set of reversible HBTs that my father picked out of a warehouse during a working party at Camp Lejeune in 1958. Since he was a regular 0311, he wasn't authorized to wear them, hence their condition. Covered up the name when I posted them on here a few years ago since I was still active duty, but it's just hand drawn black ink. The value to me is not what they're worth in $$, but that they are they only thing remaining from his time in the Corps besides a few photographs, his dog tags and a P-38 can opener.

Sure is! The P44 trousers have the belt "slits" vice loops. I've seen photos of Recon-types wearing reversible HBTs during the '60s, I'm just glad my Pop was able to salvage these. What's even more incredible is that I never wore them in my backyard battles as a kid!

Great uniform Jeff.. nothing can beat a family uniform.

Thank you! You're absolutely right, nothing beats family items. I wouldn't trade my grandfather's uniform for anything in the world.

This definitely counts as one of my favorite uniforms and could be rare or at least very uncommon. A 1940 dated jacket named to a marine who not only helped to defend Tarawa from Japanese bombers after the island was captured but was one of the 1500 marines who fought on the ground during the Battle of Leyte.

Gorgeous tunic! Love the history behind it. Was it common to see division insignia on Marine greens as early as 1940 or would that have been added later?

I'm not sure as this is the first USMC tunic I have that has been made pre-US intro into WW2. The tunic was a surprise find on ebay and I got it for relatively cheap ($40) which I was surprised at even more since I thought the history would bump it up a little more in sale price.

Here is my most favorite uniform I own. It certainly is not rare or worn by a famous highly decorated soldier. It was given to me by my best High School buddy. He wore this jacket in Afghanistan during the 2005 deployment of the 116th Infantry Regiment of the 29th ID.

Hope you like and thanks for looking.

Chris

This is one of my favorites.

Two tour 8th AAF P-47/51 Fighter Pilot who commanded "Bill's Buzz Boys", a pioneering ground strafing unit leading up to D-Day, 2.5 Aerial Victories, shot down in May 1944 and fought with the French Maquis until linking up with the US Third Army a few weeks later. After a month break in the US, he returned to Europe for a second tour and was shot down again while attacking what was later found to be a decoy train, being Killed In Action.

Justin, Such a sad story. Great looking uniform and history to go with it.Thank you for sharing. You have a pretty amazing group of uniforms.

It reminds me of John McCain. He was on the Forrestal when his plane was destroyed by that horrific fire. Was offered to go home but asked for another combat carrier. We all know how that ended.

My wifes grandfathers uniforms. Served with the 9th Air Force. Everything is in perfect condition, as he put it away properly.

I believe the Shooter badges and EIB are his brothers, who passed away shortly after the war.
