I will go check tomorrow.....what do the tabs mean. Regards Lloyd "OISE" is both a river in N. France and a region there. Te OISE tabs refer to the region where US troops were stationed after WW II. I have the vet's ID for this one. The Ike has wool T05 chevrons, a 3 year and 2 1/2 years o/s hashmarks, and a GC and ETO ribbons (3 battle stars). This 899th has the #s added like Mort's. It has T-5 chevrons, GC and ETO ribbons (3 stars), 3 year and 2 1/2 years o/s hasmarks, but no TD brass. Sniff. Finally, the 805th TD Bn is on a four pocket blouse. I have an early TD piped hat w/ this one (I forgot to say I have one w/ the 893rd, too), but no brass or ribbons. It has T-5 chevrons but no hashmarks. In a copy of the Naval Officer Guide,dated 1943 by McGraw-Hill Book Company. Chapter VI, Uniform and Equipment,page 218 section 699. and I quote: "Not more than one Medal of Honor, or one Distinguished Service Medal or one Navy Cross shall be issued to any one person, but for each succeeding deed of service sufficient to justify the award the President may award a suitable emblem or isginia to be worn with the decoration and the corresponding rosette or other device. By direction of the President a gold five pointed star, 1/4 inch in diameter will be issued to any person already holding a Medal of Honor, Distinguished Service Medal, or Navy Cross, respectively. The star will be worn on the ribbon attached to the medal or cross and also upon the service ribbon when worn in lieu of the medal or cross." I hope this helps. What an amazing collection of uniforms, truly fantastic. Unfortunately for me, I don't have the money to keep a lot of the uniforms I buy, but here are a few that I have come across ( that Ricardo hasn't already bought from me and shown ) that I particularly enjoy! Sorry if you've already seen these on another forum. 1st: Admiral Waldemar F. Wendt - USNA Graduate, retired in 1969. Sold this one at the SOS 2007. FW12 Posted April 9, 2007 Share #175 Posted April 9, 2007 Of all the uniforms in my collection, this is my favorite. It belonged to Captain Leonard Herman. Herman flew one tour with the 8th Air Force and then returned to fly a second tour with the 9th after he had gone on a war bond tour in the states. He flew in B-17s and A-26s. A few tidbits about the uniform: beautiful indian-made bullion wings with the blue combat backing, theater made 8th AF patch and theater made 9th AF Patch. The uniform was tailored by MacIntosh, the Hollywood Costume Company. I asked him how he happened to get his uniform tailored by this firm, and he said that they sent a representative around to all the bases, took measurements of the men, and then sent them the uniform weeks later complete. Along with the uniform I also have an unpublished manuscript of a book written by Mr. Herman and Rob Morris, entitled Combat Bombardier.
