CNY Militaria

I saw one with 20 blue and one Gold on top for KIA, from WWII, last wee.. It was $95...I probably should have bought it.

Many of the "In Service" flags of this size were made by businesses or industrial firms to show how many of their men and women were in the service.

I have one with several stars on it.Some blue, some silver and a few gold. The gold ones were originally blue and then had a gol/yellow tissue paper applied over the top for the KIAs.I thought it to be a WW2 period service flag but actually located a name on the American Battle Monuments Commision site.He was a WW1 KIA.

By the way I have not figured out what the siver overlay on the stars is for on the flag I have..Any ideas?I assumed MIA/lost in action not recovered?

Nice banner! Interesting with that top outlier star, as mentioned that would be where you would see a Gold star placed.  I wonder if that one had a gold paper star affixed over it (any reside on that one?).

The silver stars were mainly for WIA - although there was also red stars used for MIA/WIA in WWI (among other symbols)

The silver stars have not been officially recognized yet.
