Another earlier eagle snap canteen cover

I just scored another early eagle snap canteen cover. Rounded flaps but it has the early hanger with tube. And I'm pretty sure, instead of "US" marked on front it's marked "NY". I added it to my cart and checked out so fast I forget. LOL. I'll post pics once it gets here. It was about $130.00 which I think is a steal anymore.

I've got an "extremely" rare japan made and marked canteen and cover from back in the day when I first got into collecting and didn't know any better. I'll trade you.

Oooo those are pretty rare. Matt, to beat Mach1derful's offer, I'll trade you 3 semi-rare Wal-Mart 2002 metal canteens for your cover...

O.K. Sgt. Saunders, I think I can beat that. Matt, this is probably the best offer you will recieve:

2) Mint unopened ready to play with soldier costume (includes plastic field gear)

3) Walmart canteens

1) Rare felt M1911 Holster

1) Cardboard B-25 cockpit

I'll throw in 2 war worn G.I. Joes. One Army, one Navy.

Top that!

I have 20 G.I. Joes at my disposal, plus a Willys jeep and Harley Davison to go along with 2 of the 'Joes.

Did I top that?

I'm out, (Sigh) :crying:

Some times retreat is the better part of valor.........

Checkmate then? ;) I do need to get rid of the G.I. Joes though, they take up way too much room and I have not touched them since 4th grade.

Haha thanks for the offers but I think I'd like to keep this a while. :D

Here she is. After some tense moments of trying to get the one snap open it finally opened for me. But now I'm afraid to close them again. Anyone have any tips on how to make them unsnap easier?

Sweet cover! I loves those marked ones. Now I really want to trade for it. :D

You can try a little ivory soap or paraffin wax on the male part of the snap.

Thanks for sharing.

Sweet cover Matt! When did they begin making those??

Thanks Sam. The rimless eagle snap covers with round flaps and khaki material were made between 1911 and 1912.
