M-1 liner leather chin strap

Now this might be the wrong place for this but I was wondering if anyone had any tips for how to take a new reproduction leather chin strap and age it to look used so that it can mach the wear that shows on my M-1 helmet, I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong place and any advice would be much appreciated

I was dissatisfied with the light color / finish on many of the new repros and ended up dying some a bit darker.
