They are both painted dark green/olive drab and look "military." However, I have never known a suitcase to be an "issue" item. I recall reading in some of my WWII letters how a new recruit might arrive at camp with a suitcase, but soon ship it home with his "civies" and other personal items. For the most part, the men used footlockers and/or barrack bags. The suitcase you have, however, it a nice patriotic piece from WWII. It could have been carried by anyone.
