P-E Posted June 1, 2010 Share #1 Posted June 1, 2010 What is this flap ? I well know these covers, that are really common and I also know this flap that's present on all current helmet cover. But what are these flaps used for ? Someone told me it serves for NVG, other guys tell it serves for mask/google elastic,... If someone have a concrete idea of the use of this flap, it interess me ! Thanks for response. P-E
David F Posted June 1, 2010 Share #2 Posted June 1, 2010 Yes, the flap is on all issue helmet covers. It's for a helmet radio set. Being FA, I have never seen one of the radios personaly. It is pretty much a pure "Infantry" piece of equipment. Dave
hawkdriver Posted June 1, 2010 Share #3 Posted June 1, 2010 as mentioned, it is for a radio piece that I have never seen used. I use mine as a strap retention as opposed to using the strap retention straps.
P-E Posted June 1, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted June 1, 2010 Ok ok, I never see it in use too. That the reason of my question (there's some speculation about that, now I know the real use of this). Thanks !
hawkdriver Posted June 1, 2010 Share #5 Posted June 1, 2010 I believe that it was originally designed for the Land Warrior system. I have seen some guys turn the cover around and try to use it to cover the NVG mount, but that looks like hell.
