Cobrahistorian Posted June 1, 2010 Share #12 Posted June 1, 2010 Great photos! Judging from the paint schemes on the airplanes, I'd say that these are probably 1945 or later photos. There's a great website on the Langley's history here: http://www.maam.org/flightsim/news/tbm_langley.htm
TBMflyer Posted June 1, 2010 Share #13 Posted June 1, 2010 Hi, great photos you have there. Just to clarify, posts 1, 3 and 9 are of a CVE and are not the USS Langley which was a CVL-note the lack of stacks on the side of the ship-the CVL's had 4 stacks just behind the island. The last photo are TBM's off the USS Salerno Bay, CVE-110, probably a VC squadron. thanks for posting these great photos, Mark
WS60 Posted June 2, 2010 Author Share #14 Posted June 2, 2010 Thank you Mark for your comments. I’m little far from this subject, I have seen 27 on board USS on second picture, and make decision there are from the same place. All stories began from paperwork of one marine of flying unit, what I found in one antique shop (Visit Link ). After that, I came back to store with hope to find picture of hero. I found totally 40+ pictures, and just separate it with my unknown. If it possible to combine these two story together, I believe, it will be interesting.
