20 Army Reserve soldiers assigned to Detachment 38, 335th Signal Command, were honored during a departure ceremony as they prepared for a nine-month deployment to Kuwait. During their deployment, Detachment 38 will provide IT support to the theater of operations and maintain the network, a critical role in ongoing military missions.

This was a rare find, 50th armored division LRS NJ NG. This mightve been the first time an airborne tab was worn over an armored triangle patch since WW2.

Tab for the Allied Command Europe Mobile Force Land (LAND) worn with a 3rd Support Command SSI. The SSI was approved for the 3rd Logistical Command in 1952, redesignated for the 3rd Support Command in 1974 and again redesignated for the 3rd Sustainment Command in 2007.

The soldier is also wearing the pocket badge for NATO’s Allied Mobile Force (AMF) Allied Command Europe (ACE).

According to wikipedia, the Allied Command Europe Mobile Force (AMF) was a small NATO quick reaction force, headquartered at Heidelberg, Germany, active from 1960 to 2002. It formed part of Allied Command Europe (ACE), headquartered at SHAPE at Casteau, Belgium. The land component of the force, consisting of a brigade-sized formation of about 5,000 personnel, was composed of units from 14 NATO states.

Soldier on the right is a member of Company B 1st Battalion 50th Infantry (M). He is wearing the I Field Force Vietnam, Vietnam SSI while the unit is attached to the 173rd Airborne Brigade - 1968. The soldier on the the soldier on the left wearing the Technical and Administrative Services (formerly Army Services Force) SSI is probably a member of the Department of Army Special Photographic Office (DASPO) team that took the photograph.

But notice that the commanding officer is wearing the Maneuver Center Of Excellence SSI while the Command Sergeant Major is wearing the 198th Infantry Brigade SSI even though both photos were taken in front of the same flags apparently at the same time (wrinkles on the flags look the same).

From Panzer Archeology: A US soldier stands by a Jagdtiger that was knocked out in the woods of Offensen, Germany, by a Sherman tank of the 750th Battalion, working with the 104th Infantry Division, 1st U.S. Army. He appears to be comparing his .45 pistol with the 128 mm gun of the Jagdtiger

What?? At least 39-40 years of service till 2012 and only a Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon (1st award)?  No GWOT service of any kind?  I just dont understand how he avoided any mobilization (CONUS or OCONUS) in 40 years of service.

With nearly 30 years of service under his belt by the time 9/11 happened, it could well be that he was in a senior enough position and was serving in a HQ element that was never mobilized. A lot of Reserve / NG units were called up ... but a lot were not.  https://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ops/res-ng-callup.htm
