seanmc1114 Posted August 19, 2021 #5152 Posted August 19, 2021 Two photos of the 1st Logistical Command SSI worn stateside in 1961 while it was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC before being sent to Vietnam.
seanmc1114 Posted August 19, 2021 #5153 Posted August 19, 2021 The first photo shows soldiers of the 278th Regimental Combat Team, but I cannot make out what SSI they are wearing. The second photo does not show what SSI the soldier may be wearing, but he does have the decal for the 278th RCT on his helmet liner, indicating he is likely wearing a 278th SSI.
seanmc1114 Posted August 19, 2021 #5154 Posted August 19, 2021 10th Infantry Division without the MOUNTAIN tab in Germany mid-1950's. Note the pocket patch for the 87th Infantry Regiment in the first photo.

seanmc1114 Posted August 19, 2021 #5157 Posted August 19, 2021 Full color 101st Airborne Division SSI sometime between 1978 and 1980 when Major General John N. Brandenburg (center) commanded the division. Note that even though General Brandenburg has both the Parachutist Badge and Air Assault Badge, he wears the silver Air Assault Badge on his cap while the Specialist 4 on the right has the Parachutist Badge but no Air Assault Badge. Also note how strac the Specialist's uniform looks compared to the generals'.

I once was detailed to be part of a night fighting demonstration for him at Hood in 82 or 83. Talked to the joes like he was one of them
seanmc1114 Posted August 20, 2021 #5161 Posted August 20, 2021 Recruiting ad from the 80's showing the 9th Infantry Division SSI worn with an AIRBORNE tab. The DUI on the beret is for the 60th Infantry, indicating the soldier is probably from Company E (Scout) 60th Infantry.
seanmc1114 Posted August 20, 2021 #5162 Posted August 20, 2021 Pathfinders of the 27th Infantry Platoon wearing the 90th Army Reserve Command SSI and AIRBORNE tab on their BDU's but wearing scrolls with no SSI on their dress greens. I'm not sure if this was done at different times, or just just done differently on the two different types of uniforms.
