Shot of Anthony C. McAuliffe as a Major General commanding the 103rd Infantry Division alongside the famous picture taken of him as a Brigadier General in Bastogne while temporarily commanding the 101st Airborne Division during the Battle of the Bulge. I wonder if it's the same jacket in both pictures.

Put it under some magnification and compare the stitching on the shoulder. No two jackets will have the exact same stitch pattern, there should be some kind of anomaly you can use to confirm or deny your question.

"Um...sir... your patch?"

Yeah, not very straight is it? But in several other pictures in the same yearbook, the officers were wearing there ribbons all out of order. Not really something you would expect under the circumstances.

47th Infantry Division, a National Guard unit active from 1946 to 1991. It has the notoriety of remaining on the rolls longer than any other National Guard division that did not see combat (45 years of service).

Members of C Btry, 1st Bn, 30th Field Artillery wearing Task Force Kiska patches on their right sleeve in late summer of 1943. The 1st Bn, 30th FA moved from Adak Island to Amchitka Island on 2 August 1943. Tehn on 13-14 August part of the Bn loaded on LST 450. And the remainder loaded on LST 461 on 18-19 August 1943 to support the attack on Kiska Island. After moving into position with the attack convoy it was determined the enemy had evacuated the island and the 1st Bn 30th FA returned to Amchitka Island. The Japs must have heard how deadly accurate the Hard Chargers of the 155mm howitzers of the 1st Bn, 30th FA were and decided to get the heck out of Dodge City! ;) I apologize for the poor quality as it was clipped from a paper copy of the original. Great photo. I still think that armored triangles were worn on the chest so they wouldn't get caught on the hatch lids. Just me, though.....
