Nurse of the 4th Service Command, name given Hazel Jones, no more info.

hazel jones.jpg

Obituary of Hazel Colson | Funeral Homes & Cremation Services | Her... (heritagememorialfuneralhome.com)

Hazel Jones was born 17 Feb 1927 in Georgia.  Finished high school at the age of 17 in 1943.  Joined the US Army Cadet Nurse Corps on 2 Jan 1945 as a lieutenant.  She married Jasper William Colson in 1950.

4th Service Command was headquartered in Atlanta, GA.   On 11 Jun 1946, the ASF and all nine service commands were disestablished, and their functions passed to the six Army Areas.

This photo dates between 2 Jan 1945 and 11 Jun 1946.  Since she is not wearing a WWII Victory Ribbon (the medal wasn't created until later) on her jacket, presume it was taken prior Jun 1945, when the ribbon was authorized.

Some time ago, I located, acquired, and got to the Army's Transportation Museum at Ft. Eustis, a tropical fatigue shirt and an OG sateen fatigue shirt that had belonged to the 1st Transportation Battalion's commander. Both had the AMC SSI on the left shoulder.

A interesting one, a unnamed GI of the Allied Forces in 45, must of served first somewhere in the Pacific as he has an A&P Ribbon with one campaign star, also seems to have a Purple Heart, so yes, maybe out in New Guinea or the Solomons, was wounded badly enough, sent home, recovered and was sent overseas again, this time to Italy. Got a Driver Badge there too., can't make out his branch disc though.

Adolfo Larrue Martínez II, 513th Parachute Infantry Regiment 17th Airborne Division Camp Mackall, North Carolina, in 1944  he wears both the 513th PIR Pocket Patch and the Golden Talons Patch, placing his Jump Wing collar as we see. Adolfo Larrue Martínez II is the Father of actor A Martinez, A Martinez's real name Adolfo Larrue Martínez III. Can't find more on the Fathers service, we assume he went overseas with the division and seen action in the Ardennes and the Rhine Jump. He was still living as of 2018 at 95, but if he passed can not find a obit.
