Tiger VNMC

Hi there and welcome to the forum.

This one stands a slim chance of being one of those elusive late war pieces.

The cut is right .

The buttons are right.

The pattern is right.

Now is it marked at all with any stamps in the back somewhere in the pock area ?

This might be .

Even though its the worst tiger pattern they kinda look goodish.

now the bad flip side of the coin.

They could be nasty fake bad boys made today by a faker just to make a buck.

Well, youve already heard from some of the Tiger experts on the forum, so take my W.A.G. w/ a grain of salt. I dont like them at all. They just give off that aura of having been made very recently. Did I see errant threads around the beltloops? The cloth looks cool but I think they the construction is recent. But again, there are others with more knowledge who may disagree.

Paul-Hate to argue with you but, the VNMC was wearing a pattern very similar in the very late stages of the war.

But, I sure don't like this piece.

Owen, the cut is not specific to the VNMC, is it ?

Otherwise, it is exactely what a VNMC should wear in 1974-75.

What you often see in Vietnam nowadays is the same pattern, but ripstop.

NTS ,

When you see a front pocket cut like that with it extending up into the belt generally one thinks MC.

The same with the single button on the back pocket.

sorry, my bad, I keep forgetting the war continued to 1975, I always put the end at 1972 with the end of Americas "active" involvement :)

keep forgetting the Viets fought for another 3 years :(

I thought the pat was ripstop too sorry :)

Owen,

I am quite perplexe with your answer. :)

If I am not mistaken, loads of green ARVN uniforms have the exact cut you describe and they don't have the least relation with the VNMC.

NTS ,

You are looking a bit too deep into this.

I said generally...

Your fellow countryman Copran has a pair of VNMC trousers for sale in the uniform section right now that follow this upper style of pocket.

I myself have a 2nd pattern mint set of VNMC that also follow this style dated 66 as well as a custom set in 3rd pattern which ALSO follows the same trend.

Sure there were OD cut in this but its a pocket style that is found generally on marine garments.
