Well Done!!!

I have seen a lot of repaints at shows, and your work here looks top notch. Tell me, did you grind the cork yourself? And where did you get the paint match? I have been thinking of building a helmet for my nephew and this post finally convinced me.....I CAN do it...lol. Shoot me a PM when you can.

It's your helmet, Grant, and it looks nice, but I'd have left it the way it was. I would want Joe Greco to recognize it if he saw it.

Hey Bill I understand where you're coming from, but I'm afraid Mr. Greco wouldn't be able to recognize it because nearly all the paint was removed before it fell into my hands.-Grant

Hey Grant,Tell me something, did you roll something heavy all around yours

to get the cork to lay down like that thread said.I used an empty hair spray

can and pressed down real hard.It laid down some but I didn't see a whole lotta

difference.

Hi Mark.

Aha...this is were I let you into my "trade secrets" ;)

The cork was made by me,using 3 wine corks, and a cheese grater.

The paint is a mix of, N.A.T.O/M.O.D.- Vehicle paint, which I got from a Military Surplus yard, which was then mixed with Matt brown- Anti-rust primer,I won't mention the brand ,but I'm sure you have something similar where you are.

This was mixed, to create an approximate colour to match one of my original finish lids.

Thanks for your enquiry
