Here is a letter, with contents, from an unidentified soldier writing to a young girl back home. It is dated 11 September 1944 and sent from France.

 

In part it reads:

 

"You asked that I return your envelope. With it is a poppy and a German land mine marker. Both are as common in France as heather in England. They are about all I have that will fit into an envelope."
