After seeing shoe brush photos at your website, I believe I have what is a WWII brush. It is marked: URIS Sales Corp. Why is it marked as such while all found at your US Militeria Forum say, "USMC" on them? I did find that URIS made military buttons?

Thanks...shoebrush

The USMC in your case probably means United Shoe Machine Corporation. It is a fairly well know company related to foot wear.

Uris was advertised as "Mfrs. of Military & Fraternal Jewelry" but also sold other items and even ran stores on at least one military post (see ad excerpt below). "United Shoe Machinery Company" made brushes marked U.S.M.C. while probably just sold them: it was - and is - common for companies to put their brand on something made by another company: it's called "private branding." It was common practice back when there were a lot of companies selling so-called "Military & Fraternal Goods." They would buy swords from German with their name on them, caps and uniforms from various makers with their own label in them, etc.
