Spikehsv Posted April 14, 2010 Share #1 Posted April 14, 2010 This pair of Navy pilot wings were given to me by a good friend and fellow classmate in Beeville, TX in 1982. I wore them for my entire 25 years in the Navy. They are die-struck pin-back with the pin only extending out just under 90 degrees from the back. They are stamped in the center back "BALFOUR 1/20 10K GF 1-B". My friend hand inscribed them on the back (probably with a nail) "SPIKE + NAILS". This was in reference to the day I lead a 4 plane T-2 formation into the break at Beeville. My call sign was/is Spike. I had to laugh when I read the post on fakes and having a crude inscription on the back was a dead givaway for a fake. Mine are real! Rick
