Special Forces used South African (SADF) M83 vest worn over a plate carrier. The M83 vest was used by USSF soldiers during OEF and early OIF.

I have seen a picture in a book dealing with the invasion of Iraq of an SF ODA team member wearing this exact type of vest. This vest has definitely been modified by a US soldier with the replacement of some of the standard SADF black velcro with OD green velcro. Also, some of the zipper pulls have been replaced with 550 paracord.

There is a very good possiblity that this vest has been through the Southern African Border/Bush Wars and OEF/OIF. The South African make some of the best gear around.

Afghan made copy of the LBT 1961A worn over a plate carrier. Even though the Afghan copies are of poor quality, they are still used by US forces. This chest rig has 100 MPH tape on the straps.

Close-up of buckle. Notice how the straps have faded from a tan color to a lime green.

Very nice Arch! Hanging a white sheet over that fence would make a nice backdrop

Justin,

Thanks for the compliment! However....I am going for the "suburban chic" look.

They are predicting an early winter for my area, so I decided to take a few more pics before things get nasty. Temperature today is in the 60's.

First one is a painted Blackhawk vest with pistol holster and radio pouch hand sewn on to vest. Body armor underneath is an Armorlite LFT vest made by Protective Products International.

Up next is a painted chest rig made by Cristina in Quito, Ecuador. Being that this piece is made in Ecuador, it would be from a 7th Group soldier. Previous owner had a name tape sewn to the back of the rig.
