Sabrejet Posted April 6, 2010 Share #1 Posted April 6, 2010 Although technically a firearms accessory, these bandoleers were an integral part of every rifleman's equipment in the field. Just study any WW2 combat footage and such bandoleers will be very much in evidence draped across the riflemen's chests. These were essentially disposable items which were packed in crates for distribution before combat operations. Made of OD cotton with an OD tape strap, they comprised of six pockets, each one containing an 8-round M-1 clip, making a total of 48 rounds per bandoleer. Each clip was contained within a stiff card carrier with each round being separated by a cardboard former. A packing card with the LOT # was also included in order to help trace back any defective ammo to its source. Sabrejet
