Darktrooper

Just a couple small things:

Need a helmet band with the cat eyes for the kevlar helmet.

If you're doing traffic duty on post you wouldnt be wearing battle rattle (LBV). You'd be wearing a duty belt ie. pistol belt, holster, cuff case. Along with the Black brassard with the white MP letters, for a while 1st ID was real prevalent in Bosnia.

Besides Im UBER jealous of the reflective vest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cuz I don't have one!

we had BIG nato exersices here where i live since the 1960s and up

and the us army and us marines was here everytime with a bunch

of truks, jeeps, tanks and other cool gear + mres and crations.

so when your a kid the military was FUN,to collect gear and rations

and speak english.

somehow i always loved the us troopers gear and trucks more than

other nato armys. and i kept on collecting ever since :)

the americans was also most friendly and lett us try out

m60s m16s,m151 jeeps,hummers and so on

i just gott hooked on it :D

cheers from ken, thanks for nice replys.

btw i do have a radio on the vest, left side, smal one.

when i was in bosnia and kosovo i never seen a us mp

with mace..

and they used the lbv mostly since it was a combat zone.

just what i remember.

cheers ken

I spent 8 months in Bosnia on Eagle Base... we did MND-N HQ security and base patrols. The HQ security wore BDUs with pistol belt, and 9mm M-9 pistol in either a Bianchi holster or a leg holster. Cold weather called for the Goretex jacket and trousers, boots were Matterhorns or army issued goretex lined cold weather boots, and summer time footwear was issue leather boots, or green or black jungle boots (preferred). Long arms were stored in a rack in the Security office. Base Patrols wore full battle rattle. The whole time I was there, I don't recall ever doing a static traffic control post on base. Any time you went off base, it was full battle rattle plus side arms and long arms. By Full battle rattle I refer to LBV, First aid pouch, two canteens, flak vest, K Pot. Flashlight, and any other gear was optional. Rucksacks were carried in the rear compartment of our up armored hummers. We didn't carry hand irons... for apprehensions and detentions we used plastic zip strips. Easier to obtain them in greater numbers and you didnt need a key. I'll see if I can locate some pictures.

Hope this helps

I'll see if I can find a few pictures of Bosnia... My avatar pic is one from Tuzla main on Eagle Base. I was taking pictures with a friend from the 1st Provisional Russian Airborne Brigade. I'm holding a Soviet VVS short range sniper rifle nicknamed the Vintorez. It was a modified Dragunov action, cut down short barrel and SILENCED!!! Max effective range was 400m.
