I received a White House Service Badge (WHSB) and was looking for more information. There was a lot of contradictory information and so it took some time to get the correct information.

It is the precursor of the Presidential Service Badge.

Thanks to Daniel and Bob for their help.

One very rare item !

WHSB info 02

Thanks for the information roadrunner.

I have one of these and it looks just like the ones in the scans. Every detail the same. Even the rivots on the back are in the same place.

This one does not have a makers mark on the back though.

Have you seen these without a makers mark?

Yes,

Some of the White House Service Badges do not have any marks on the back. Some have the small diamond mark without any other markings. The first WHSB's were manufactured by Balfour and have the mark Balfour 1-b on the obverse.

Several different manufactures made the WHSB from June of 1960 through August of 1964. President Johnson "retired" the WHSB on September 1, 1964. From September 1, 1964 to present the Presidential Service Badge replaced the WHSB.

Hope this helps :rolleyes::rolleyes::):)

Hello

I was looking for a picture of the WHSB worn on uniform.

Do you think I found it ?

The Lieutenant Commander wearing a badge like this, but don't wear the auguilette on right shoulder.

The USN Commander wearing the auguilette on the right shoulder. He is the aide to President Kennedy ?!

The Army Colonel is wearing the Presidential Aide collar insignia, and the auguilette on left shoulder.

This indicates, that the Aide to former Presidents wearing the auguilette on their left shoulder.

So the USN Lieutenant Commander could wear his auguilette on left shoulder ?!

What do you think ?

Hello

Most people know Balfour as manufacturer for the WHSB.

Here is the WHSB made by Williams & Anderson Co. ( these company was the manufacturer of the first Presidential Service badges )

Pictures showing the WHSB on uniform are rare.

Someone who can identify the persons wearing the WHSB ?
