MattOravik Posted March 26, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 26, 2010 Picked up another one I needed. Cover is L-D Inc 1918. Canteen AGM Co 1918 and the cup is undated. The cover isn't perfect but I couldn't turn it down. It's interesting to. Notice the belt hook is sewn on backwards.. It sure looks like it was done that way originally to. Factory reject maybe? -Matt.

PFCMcP Posted March 26, 2010 Share #4 Posted March 26, 2010 I'm curious as to the nomenclature stamped on cup handle. Could that be an ID for Co. E, 117th Inf'y? Also, any guesses as to the meaning behind the "327" inside the cover flap? I haven't seen that before. Cool find, with cup and everything! MattOravik Posted March 26, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted March 26, 2010 I was hoping someone could answer those questions for me. The markings on the cup handle are probably some kind of unit markings. But I don't really know. Also those odd markings on the markings. It's 'LD' and '15' below it. -Matt. atb Posted June 20, 2010 Share #7 Posted June 20, 2010 Ity is common sense sometimes on markings like this. What is the most obvious reason for such markings? Unit identification and personal accountability. Unit number 375 (the real question is what type of unit- infantry, artillery, cavalry, ect.), company or battery H, soldier number 100. Same with "117 E."
