disneydave Posted July 7, 2007 Share #1 Posted July 7, 2007 From my collection, the original art for the 133rd Naval Construction Battalion. This Seabee art was created by Disney artist Hank Porter in the summer of 1945. The 133rd was attached to the 4th Marine Division and saw extensive action at Iwo Jima. The insignia is also pictured on page six of the unit's 1945 hardcover history log. The yearbook-type publication contains a fascinating look back at the unit's wartime accomplishments and is loaded with hundreds of black and white photos of men in the unit, the places they fought and the facilities they built. The book also contains the unit's roster and a list of Purple Heart and Bronze Star winners. While Disney artists did not design the Seabee's flying bee insignia, they did design emblems for several Naval Construction units.
