Two examples of early Vietnam War m56 Gear

Recommended Posts

Hello, here are 2 different examples of early Vietnam war ear field gear, everything dates pre 1966.

1st set has the smaller m56 buttpack dated 1961 with a 1961 poncho rolled up attached to it. Early wire type m56 suspenders, with 1st aid pouch with no drain hole. Early m56 ammo pouches with hard front and eye lets. Early 1965 dated shovel and 62 dated case. The shovel is the pick ax type. The canteen cover is dated 1963 with a 1963 dated plastic canteen.

This set is has 1962 dated buttpack with 1964 dated rain poncho rolled up attached to it. A set of 1962 dated m56 pouches soft fronts. 1962 dated canteen cover and 1964 dated plastic canteen. The suspenders are early wire type with early m56 1st aid pouch with no drain hole. The shovel cover is dated 1962 with a 1965 shovel with pick ax.

Both examples are early war set ups done by the book.

Aside from my m61 USMC webgear sets and my short m56 ammo pouch sets, these 2 are probably my favorite.

Enjoy.

Good stuff. M56 gear was the first ting I picked up as a kid at the surplus store. They still have LOADS of M56 suspenders, many early, many in long sizes. Wish I could find another buttpack, though. I just saw an M1961 sell for over $100 on ebay, not sure what that was about...

Looking for the following:

452nd and 447th Bomb Group items

Anything 12th Armored- especially uniforms

155th Assault Helicopter Company, Camp Coryell, or Ban Me Thuot Vietnam items[/center]

WWII US Navy Uniforms from the Battle Off Samar: USS Johnston DD-557, USS Hoel DD-553, USS Samuel B. Roberts DE-413, USS Heermann DD-532, USS Dennis DE-405, USS John C. Butler DE-339, USS Raymond DE-341, USS Fanshaw Bay St. Lo, White Plains, Kalinin Bay, Kitkun Bay and Gambier Bay...

I've seen the m61 USMC belts sell for $80 alone, makes me want to pull my hair out.
