kfields Posted March 20, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 20, 2010 I purchased this patch locally today. Is this a patch created for a local Marine National Guard type outfit or is it a novelty type patch? If a "real" piece, what does NATTG stand for and the "T" underneath those letters? What does the gold symbol in the one o'clock position mean? The patch is a "floppy cottony" type fabric and considering it has outlines of two jets on the front, I suspect 50's or 60's. It is about twice the size of a divisional type patch so maybe it would have been worn on a jacket or something like that. Thanks for your comments and opinions. Garth Thompson Posted March 20, 2010 Share #2 Posted March 20, 2010 Perfectly legit patch. NAS Memphis was for many years the training facility for enlisted Marine and Navy personnel in several of the aviation technical fields. All this training is now done at NAS Pensacola. NATTC = Naval Aviation Technical Training Command. The marine detachment administratively handled all of the young marines being trained at NAS Memphis. Garth Thompson Posted March 20, 2010 Share #3 Posted March 20, 2010 It was designed to wear on your flight jacket like a squadron patch. Garth
