Thanks RD, I don't know what to think. I think it can be a good one, but it seems "too" mint.

Anyway it depends on the good or bad storage during the last 90 years.

I am not an expert either!

That's the one main difference I've noticed between WW 1 & WW 2 helmets

to be as old as they are they have sure held up great compared to the painted

M1.Except for the interiors some WW 1 lids still look in excellent to mint condition.

Well I think this diference is because WW1 lids where painted at the end of the war, no one of this camo schemes saw action after they were painted. In my opinion.

It's a good one, there's enough fade and other age indicators to feel pretty comfortable with. As already mentioned, all the M1917's got these paint jobs post war for use in parades and VFW meetings. Decorating was very popular with WWI vets whom, by the way, were mostly in their late teens and early twenties when the war ended. Thus, you had a lot of young roosters trying to show off their artistic talent. M-1's on the other had were painted for use in combat as tactical, medical, divisional and rank markings. These combat conditions led to the very relic and abused look that many of these have, unlike the M1917's. Long story short, I like this helmet.

I think it's a nice helmet, these were put away by the vet as souvineers and probably never used again after the war, except maybe for veteran's parades.

thats why you still find them in nice well preserved condition

WWII M1 helmets were used over and over through several wars

Thanks for your opinions.

Seems to be no doubt about this one!
