Bob Hudson Posted March 12, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 12, 2010 I picked up a vintage letterman-style jacket for Marine squadron VMFA-232 and am trying to get an idea on the pilot who owned it. The last name is Pyle and so far the only VMFA pilot I have found is Harold F. Pyle, who was awarded the DFC while flying with VMFA-115 in Vietnam. VMFA-115 and VMFA-232 served together, flying F-4's as part of MAG-15 in Vietnam, so it could well be that at some point Harold F Pyple moved over to the 232 Red Devils. The only link to a 232 roster I found online was password protected (: so I'm hoping someone may have access to one. It would be cool if this jacket were from Harold F. Pyle, but if not, it's still a great piece:
Cobrahistorian Posted March 12, 2010 Share #2 Posted March 12, 2010 Bob, Have you searched the Virtual Vietnam Archives? A quick search of their online holdings pulled up a dozen documents when I searched for VMFA-232. http://www.virtualarchive.vietnam.ttu.edu/...vva/virtual.web Jon
