1898 Mills Cartridge Belt - 30-40 Krag

Recommended Posts

This looks like one of the belts contracted in 1898. Note that the loops are sewn to the belt rather than woven and this indicates non Mills manufacture. It could be Russell belt. It's not a Spalding belt because that company used a different web material for the loops. Obvious modifications to the belt are the brass ring held by the leather chape and the single hook buckle.

The brass grommets indicate that the belt was meant to be used with the 1874 bayonet scabbard and Mills wire hanger.
