M-60 with camounflage scheme common in the 1970-80s. This tank was upgraded with the track that had seperate replaceable pads.

There are two M-47s in So. California, one in Barstow, Ca. in desert camouflage scheme that was applied to M48A5s and M-60s starting in the mid-1970s. The other example is at Los Alamitos Reserve Center, in front of the Headquarters 40th Infantry Div (MECH) CAARNG.

This is an M-60A3. You can tell by the flat sides on the turret. The "Slick 60" had a rounded similar to the M-48.

Say what? Do you have a few more details on this? Is this something our troops "rescued" and repainted? I can't for the life of me imagine the Iraqis going to the trouble.

Lord only knows what else is buried in the deserts over there. Reminds me of those WWI French tanks they found in a bone yard in Afghanistan, which I understand have now been shipped back to the West.

Hard to believe Saddam was actually using these antiques! I hope some of them make it back to the US or other friendly countries!

Well, this is not exactly a tank, but I thought maybe you all would want to see it anyway. I took these pics today, this is in Plainview, Minnesota outside their local American Legion Post. I see tanks scattered around all over the state, here and there, and have stopped to take a gander at about every war memorial I can, but this is the first time I have ever seen one of these. It is a 1944 & 1945 dated 155mm / 8 inch towed howitzer. It's actually been well cared for over the years too. It looks like it is probably missing the trail pieces, which I think would have come out from the sides to brace it, but I am not 100% sure on that. I thought it was pretty neat to see though, so I thought I'd post it. I will try and post pics of tanks I have come across in my travels too, when I get a chance. Mike

It is the 8"(203.2mm) howitzer the 155mm(6.1") gun fit on the same carriage. here is a picture of the 155,

This may help you understand that it looks most of the major parts are there.

The flat spades on top of the trails are moved to end and then dug into the ground.

It could be an M60A1 which was the first version to use that turret and I believe a lot of A1s were converted to A3s.

The lady in the background is the "Mighty A", USS Alabama (BB-60) at Battleship Memorial Park in Mobile Alabama. The submarine USS Drum (SS-228) is also on display. In addition to the outdoor displays, the indoor pavilion has a collection of war birds and military vehicles. The snack bar has the voted best hamburger in Mobile. Thanks!!!

Cashman thanks I got the pics off the web and didn't know the ships name. Now that I know where it is I'll try and get down there to see it.

Heres a nice tank not far from my house parked outside a local American Legion

post-350-1183431194.jpg

I know this thread is almost a year old

But I grew up in Dedham, my folks still live there. That tank is not 2 miles from the house I grew up in; I went to Dedham Jr High, which used to be about two blocks away from that tank, and I still drive past it at least one a week. In fact I drove past it twice yesterday.

There used to be a field artillery piece across the parking lot, pointing at Memorial field, as well

Great! Photo's

Here is a T9E1_Locust, Unfortunately No Barrel. Taken at the Rock Island Arsenal. The Sherman behind the Locust was knocked out Jan. 23, 1946 during the Battle of the Bulge.

I have a shot of a USSR / Iraq BMP1-Model and a USSR / Iraq ZSU23-4M_Model I will post if any are interested.
