Am trying to find information about the 31st in Korea during Christmas 1951. My father almost never talked about Korea until just before he died. He told my cousin that the Chinese attacked and they were fighting with knives and forks in the mess tent. He had never mentioned this to anyone else, but he did become very upset one time when we were cleaning out his mother's belongings and found a letter that he had written to her. It was a typical letter, doing fine, had a great Christmas, good food, etc. All the reassuring things that servicemen would write home. I could not figure out why he became upset until my cousin told me at Dad's funeral about the fight in the mess tent. It's possible that he was remembering how he wrote to reassure after the fight.

Does anyone know about this? Dad was suffering from dementia when he told my cousin about the fight, but he could be really clear at times.
