3709th BMTS (I was in this squadron in 1979):

This is a late 80s version of the 3709 BMTS. The period version for 79 would be round with a bottom tab. Just so you know there's one out there!

Thanks for the tip. Yes, I figured this was a more recent patch for the 3709th - will have to keep my eye out for the older version as well. I see what it looks like from a gallery search at USAFPatches.com. Thanks again.

So far, everything displayed here except for the 3281st Guidon is from Lackland, The 3281st was assigned to Parks AFB. Ca does any one have any of the BMTS Insignia from Parks, Sampson AFB, NY or Amarillo AFB, Texas.

Terry L Horstead

So far, this is my only contribution from Sampson AFB. The student leader armband.

Far as I can tell, based on the flight photos I've run across, they seem to be the only base to utilize them.

I have had an older version of 3709th's patch for over 30 years. It has no scrolls above or below and is round. For many years I didn't know what it was till I saw a later version on the USAF MTI website identifing it as 3709th

Came across this thread. Awesome collection of BMTS patches. These were made for the souvenir jackets that were sold at Lackland AFB. I ave one of the HONOR FLIGHT patches, our FLT won it. I have seen some on eBay for the new squadrons.

I forgot to mention that I was in the 3709th BMTS in 1966, Flight 780. I felt kind of silly having that patch for all those years, not knowing what unit it was and then found out it was MY squadron!
