DesertRatTom Posted March 3, 2010 Share #3 Posted March 3, 2010 I thought they were at CPO and above. I'll have to break out my Blue Jackets Manual from the war. Best, Tom

Best, Tom I do not beleive that during WW2, rating badges were worn on P-Coats. I know they were starting in 1963 for petty Officer Third Class to Petty Officer First Class. CPOs have never worn rating badges on P-Coats. They wear gold Navy buttons on them (since 1963). Officers wear shoulder boards.Steve Hesson
zouave114 Posted March 4, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted March 4, 2010 I wish these Ebay people would do some more research. I'm guessing from the maker's mark that this is NOT WW2 http://cgi.ebay.com/Vtg-40s-WWII-Military-...208206003r16577 Jeff

OK, first off, all WW2 P-Coats had two rows of FOUR buttons. They will also have, like all WW2 Naval clothing, a Naval Clothing Factory lable. This coat is from some time after 1955 (ish). More likely late 60s, early 70s. They are great coats in their own right, had three of them, still have my last one. Warm and all, but not WW2.
