Pack Rat Posted February 18, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 18, 2010 Hey gang,I have some blue Specialist chevrons for the dress blue uniform. When were they used and since the Army has adopted the dress blue as the class A, would the Specialist rank shown be used for the female uniform today?Thank you in advance for your help.Cheers,-D
El Bibliotecario Posted February 19, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 19, 2010 I'm missing something here--to me these look like garden variety Sp4 and Sp6 insignia from the late 50s before the larger pattern were adapted. If someone said they were femme insignia I wouldnt argue--but I dont understand why they would be for the army blue unform when the background color is AG44--or am I experiencing a side effect of Viagra, which makes it difficult to distingusih between blue and green? Another issue--since the Sp6 rank bit the dust some years back, their use on the new army blues is a moot point for other than aged retirees. craig_pickrall Posted February 19, 2010 Share #3 Posted February 19, 2010 They look like the standard AG44 to me too. There was a thread here just a few days ago explaining the use of both small and large size SPEC chevrons. It should be on the first 3 pages of this section. USMCRECON Posted February 21, 2010 Share #7 Posted February 21, 2010 Bill, that thread is our discussion about the '48-'51 blue and gold stripes ..... here's the one about small Spec stripes.(They look blue to me .... ) John http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/ind...mp;#entry493018 My mistake. I guess I just assumed it was about the same subject. I missed "spec" totally. Must have been a senior moment....duh!
Pack Rat Posted February 21, 2010 Author Share #8 Posted February 21, 2010 Maybe I should ask my question differently. What do female Specialist's wear on the modern dress blue uniform that has replaced the old, green class A? Are they the small type I have shown above or are they the full size? Thanks, -D
blkjack07 Posted February 21, 2010 Share #9 Posted February 21, 2010 Hey, USMCRECON ..... tell me about them "senior moments" !!!! Pack Rat, those stripes you have are obsolete. Check out Army Regulation AR-670-1 (3 Feb 05). You can find a copy at http://www.army.mil/USAPA/epubs/index.html John
