Abby K-9 Posted February 16, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 16, 2010 I recently found this link and wanted to pass it on to those of you who have someone in the family who likes to knit. The site has knitting patterns for the World War I and World War II Red Cross sweaters, sweater vests, knit caps, gloves, socks, etc. Free. http://www.hjsstudio.com/patterns.html
fortworthgal Posted February 17, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 17, 2010 Neat! Now if only I knew how to knit... The American Red Cross has a nice WWII section on their website that also has many patterns available (including a women's sweater): http://www.redcross.org/museum/exhibits/knits.asp

Abby K-9 Posted February 18, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted February 18, 2010 Learning how to knit isn't the hard part ... it's having the patience to stick with it until you develop that muscle memory. My aunt used to watch TV while knitting, without ever looking down at her knitting, and everything came out perfect. I have to constantly count so I don't muck it up. As a result, I don't do much knitting because it takes forever and is ridiculously frustrating. We have a very old lady locally who lives in a retirement home and kits socks for sale at her daughter's health food store. I talked to the daughters and she may be interested in knitting some of these sweaters and things if there is an interest and we find the right kind of wool. Her socks are really good prices (around $10), and she would be making these for really good prices as well if people wanted them?
fortworthgal Posted February 18, 2010 Share #6 Posted February 18, 2010 I'd definitely be in for at least 1 of the ladies' coat sweaters, maybe a man's sweater as well. Keep us posted!
