swag Posted December 14, 2012 #152 Posted December 14, 2012 Seeing as there are some LoM's to Soviets, thought I'd add a General Order I found at the archives to Soviet officers. Wonder if they even bothered trying to inscribe their names on the medals. Enjoy!
Adam R Posted January 11, 2013 #153 Posted January 11, 2013 WWII first type Legion of Merit with pierced arrows and enamel on reverse.
Adam R Posted January 19, 2013 #155 Posted January 19, 2013 A very rare TRIPLE Legion of Merit group to a USN recipient. Note that the LoM is a WWII Army type with longer ribbon, heavier enamel and gilt wrap brooch. Details on the awards are shown below.

jmpmstr Posted March 7, 2013 #167 Posted March 7, 2013 Hello Sal The ribbon and both lapel pins are for the LoM Chief Commander. HAVE A NICE DAY Michael Yep, thanks...caught that after I posted it. If I could find a Chief case I'd have somewhere proper to put them....
roadrunner Posted March 17, 2013 #168 Posted March 17, 2013 Hello At Google-pictures you can find interesting pictures about LoM. Take a look at the certificate LoM "(Degree of Commander)" but presented Officer http://www.yokota.af.mil/shared/media/photodb/photos/2012/12/121130-F-PM645-079.jpg Third LoM Officer Degree is presented. Two Officer devices worn on Medal http://www.yokota.af.mil/shared/media/photodb/photos/2012/12/121130-F-PM645-079.jpg I can't upload the pictures, hope someone else can do it. HAVE A NICE DAY Michael

jmpmstr Posted April 5, 2013 #172 Posted April 5, 2013 Early wrap brooch LOM numbered 7032. Can't get enough of these...particularly the early strikes.
jmpmstr Posted April 11, 2013 #173 Posted April 11, 2013 More from our good friend Tom on this newest LOM in my home. Tom writes: LOM #7032 is traceable to 1st Sgt. Andrew C. Bichke, F/339 Inf Regt., 85th Division, ASN 6,810,832. His 6 million serial number indicates he was a career NCO with pre-WW2 service. The 85th fought only in Italy. It is only the second one found to be number traceable, out of the many requests from Forum members. In addition, an LOM to an enlisted man is rather scarce. Of the 20,273 US Army LOMs awarded for WW2, only 3114 or 15.4% were enlisted awards.
roadrunner Posted April 25, 2013 #174 Posted April 25, 2013 Hello An interesting version for sale at auction in Sweden. http://www.tradera.com/u-s-medalj-legion-of-merit-officer-auktion_292201_178101120 HAVE A NICE DAY Michael
