DesertRatTom Posted February 10, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 10, 2010 Hello, Thank you for stopping by to take a look. I have a [cow boy type] hat that I'd like to convert to a Pattern 1889 Campaign Hat. The brim, crown, and color are correct. Where I'm stumbling is punching the Snow Flake vents. I have a copy of them from an old Jarnigan Hat. The question is what is the best way to punch the pattern in? Does one use a punch, is the hole finished & how? Simple questions that I have not been able to find an answer to. Thanks, Tom
37thguy Posted February 10, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 10, 2010 I did one once using brass tubing that I sharpened on the end and simply punched the pattern with a small hammer. Worked perfectly. You may need to sharpen it once or twice. Good luck, and TAKE YOUR TIME!
