Hi guys,

I wanted to share with you some photos about the Purple Foxes (HMM-364) in Vietnam, April 1970 ! ;)

HMM-364 arrived in Vietnam as early as 1964 and remained in country until 1971.

It was first based at Da Nang, then Ky Ha field, Phu Bai and finally at Marble Mountain.

Although they first started with supply missions (ARVN & SF remote camps), they also transported units and had some rescue missions.

As early as 1965, one of their missions was to insert and extract Marine Recon teams.

To give you an idea of the heavy toll paid by the unit, here is an extract of the HMM-364 Command Chronology of Jan 1969 :

(At the time, the unit composition was 51 officers, 174 Enlisted)

Marble Mountain was at Danang.

April 1970 was way boot to me but I likely rode on HMM-364 helos at one time or another from Jan 67 to Jul 68. Honestly, I really didn't care who inserted or extracted us as long as they were reliable and had stones. Virtually all of the Marine helo crews fit that definition.

The only one I remember by name by C/S was the "Bonnie Sue" boys.

Bill, did you use the "jacob ladder" as seen on the last photo? That must have been very ... special...

Andrei, Beezman was way too hairy to fit on that photo session!

She asks me why

I'm just a hairy guy

I'm hairy noon and night

Hair that's a fright

I'm hairy high and low

Don't ask me why

Don't know

It's not for lack of bread

Like the Grateful Dead

Darling

You guys are always top notch. Best representations as usual. Really like the use of original Kodak picture paper as a background or were these developed on original film?
