ed101 Posted February 7, 2010 #1 Posted February 7, 2010 I purchased this grouping from the estate. From what I was told, he was a WWII veteran, I believe, in the medical corps. I was also told that he achieved the rank of Brigadier General. I have found little information on the man. A note in the group states that he was in the Navy ROTC 1928-1932 at University of Washington. I found a listing on the University of Washington Interrupted Journey World War II Memorial. But may not be the same man. On his dog tag is O 22794. Any help would be appreciated. Opinions on the medal would be helpful as well. Thanks in advance.
jim2 Posted February 7, 2010 #3 Posted February 7, 2010 Wow what a small world! I recently purchased Emerson Berry Taylors mess dress jacket, and he was in the Medical Corp. He achieved the rank of Col. From 1932-1938 he was in the USNR. He joined the army in 1940 & retired in 1970. On a sad note he had a son who was KIA in vietnam in i believe 1966. He was awarded the LOM, American theatre medal, American Defense, Pacific Campaign, WWII V, National Defense, Army Comm, & Meritious service. I will try to post the uniform I have asap.

jim2 Posted February 8, 2010 #5 Posted February 8, 2010 When I purchased his dress jacket I had planned on restoring it with the proper mini medals, but when I recieved his info from NARA in his official photo he is wearing no ribbons on his uniform. The only thing he has besides collar brass is his general staff badge.

I did find that he attended University of Washington and is on the WWII memorial there, though no details were given. I assume , then, that the LOM that I have is likely 1960's vintage. Probably awarded upon retirement?? -Ed

AUS, 5 Dec. 1950. Regular Army: 2nd Lieut. MAC, 12 March 1940. Transferred to Pharm. Corps 21 July 1943. Transferred to Med. Svc Corps 4 Aug. 1947. Promoted Major, 1 July 1948.
