all-bull Posted February 6, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 6, 2010 Hello, Can someone please tell me what the white background is supposed to mean or if they were ever worn like this? The rank itself is marked G1 on the reverse and shows a lot of that white "oxidation" like on the eagle on front. Any help would be great! THANKS!! J_Andrews Posted February 7, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 7, 2010 These were worn on the black trenchcoat, so the rank could be seen.
El Bibliotecario Posted February 7, 2010 Share #3 Posted February 7, 2010 These were worn on the black trenchcoat, so the rank could be seen. Were the white EM rank backgrounds also worn on the slate-blue raincoat that preceded the black coat? I should know this but am flummoxed if I can recall. Bill Posted February 7, 2010 Share #4 Posted February 7, 2010 Were the white EM rank backgrounds also worn on the slate-blue raincoat that preceded the black coat? I should know this but am flummoxed if I can recall. The white background was worn on the old blueish green raincoat and the winter coat until the gold pin on rank came out. By the time the black all weather coat came out, the Army was using the gold color pin on rank and there was no need for the white backgrounds. 4STARCHRIS Posted March 12, 2010 Share #7 Posted March 12, 2010 Roadrunner. Very nice collection of white background insignia. Thanks for posting the ranks. I do not think I have ever seen these before. 4starchris
